Colin Haley and I boarded a plane much to early this morning and set off on hopefully what will be a great trip to the rarely visited Stikine Icecap in Southeastern Alaska. Our main objective will be a climb on the Devils Thumb, which is most famous for it’s unclimbed Northwest face. Thankfully we won’t be attempting that aspect of the mountain as it is much beyond my skill level.
We’ve heard tales of beautiful white splitter granite and huge alpine walls. As well as tales of Patagonianesque weather. Currently it looks as if their is a high pressure system building that is going to lead to sunny skies starting on Friday and lasting till Monday. We have our fingers crossed.
If all goes as planned we will be jamming and scrambling real soon.
